The Governing Body provides non-executive leadership. It operates at a strategic level leaving the Headteacher and school leaders responsible and accountable to it for the operational day-to-day running of the school.

The Governing Body at Steyning Grammar School has 16 full members and a number of associate members.
Governors are all volunteers and have a collective skill set that supports effective governance.
The Governing Body is accountable to Ofsted for its effectiveness and at the last inspection was judged to be ‘outstanding’.
