PE & Sport

Sport and physical activity is an important aspect to life at Steyning Grammar School.  We are fortunate to have outstanding facilities on site including extensive fields, Astroturf Pitch, hard courts, sports hall, gymnasium, dance studio, swimming pool, fitness suite and a dedicated classroom for theory teaching.

Every year Steyning Grammar School competes in numerous local, regional and national competitions with considerable success.   There is an extensive programme of extra curricular sports and physical activity clubs.   These clubs are staffed by members of the Physical Education (PE) team and well qualified external coaches.

Students currently have CORE and examination PE lessons.  Programmes of study vary for each key stage, in KS3 students focus on a skills programme based around different activities.  In KS4, students can opt into different strands which will follow a particular activity set, i.e. Games – football, rugby, basketball.  Some of the activities that we currently offer are Football, Netball, Rugby, Hockey, Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Rounders, Volleyball, Tennis, Athletics and many more.  For more background information see PE Subject Information and PE KS4 Options.

Students have the opportunity to study various examination courses.  These include Sports Leaders, OCR GCSE, OCR National, BTEC Level 3 and PE A-level.
