Steyning Grammar School is one of the ‘Partner Schools’ with Inspire Teaching Alliance, a School Direct Teacher Training route for those wanting to get into the teaching profession. All potential candidates that want to train at Steyning Grammar School through this organisation will be interviewed and selected by us, so we can ensure that we have the right people for our school.
This is a non-salaried route only, and if accepted you will train for an academic year in one of the main partner schools, with a short placement in another. At the end of the training you will get a qualification similar to the Post Graduate Certificate in Education in that you may attain a Qualified Teacher Status.
The Schools Direct model is a school-led teacher training route, where participating schools recruit and select their own trainees with the expectation that they will then go on to work within the school or cluster/federation of schools in which they were trained, although there is no absolute guarantee of employment.
School Direct places are offered by a school or group of schools in partnership with an accredited teacher training provider. An applicant can expect to gain placements and training in schools with experience of initial teacher training.
