Special Educational Needs

Steyning Grammar School includes all pupils with diverse needs who feel that they could benefit educationally and socially by following, with appropriate support, a suitably differentiated mainstream curriculum.  The governing body and staff of the school welcome all pupils who can benefit from a broad, balanced mainstream education and aim to integrate all its pupils without discrimination.  We recognise however, that in order to obtain maximum benefit from our curriculum, pupils with special educational needs must be identified, supported, assessed and monitored.  Such pupils are the responsibility of all teachers in the school and we work closely with parents and outside agencies to make provision for them.

Steyning Grammar School's SEND Information Report outlines the policy and practice of provision for supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disability.  The Government has asked all Local Authorities in the United Kingdom to publish, in one place, information about the services and provision they expect to be available in their area for students from 0 -25 who have Special Educational Needs and/or a Disability. This is know as the Local Offer.
