Termly Parent Forum

Termly Parent Forum  -School Uniform - Future of FoSGS

Friends of Steyning Grammar (FoSGS) will hold their next Termly Parent Forum at the school on Wednesday, 13th June 2018 at 6pm. Nick Wergan and other members of the Leadership Team, as needed, will be there to chat to parents and carers.  Due to the weather, the last Parent Forum was postponed, therefore, this one will be 30 minutes longer to accommodate the three issues below.

The topics for this Termly Parent Forum are to be:

  1. Substance Misuse - discussion on school policy and strategies.
  2. Communications:
    1. How does school communicate with home and how could this improve?
    2. Progress Reporting - How does the school report student progress?  What are parent/carer views?
  3. Mental Health

The purpose of the Termly Parent Forum is to enable full, open and frank discussions to take place between parents/carers and senior members of the School’s Leadership Team. No minutes will be taken and the emphasis is on encouraging meaningful discussions which will help to inform both school and parents/carers.

Parents/carers will be allocated seats on a first come first served basis. If you would like to attend please email fosg@sgs.uk.net.

Guidelines for the operation of the FoSGS Termly Parent Forum Meetings (TPF)

General

The Termly Parents Forums (TPF) are run by FoSGS and will be chaired by the Chair of FoSGS or another member of the Committee of FoSGS.

The purpose of the TPF's is to enable full, open and frank discussions to take place between parents/carers and senior members of the School’s Leadership Team.

There will be one TPF each term. The current dates are: Wednesday 1st November 2017. These meetings will run from 6 - 7pm.

How will the TPF be set up?

The Termly Parents Forum will be chaired by FoSGS (see above). There will be a maximum of 40 parents/carers and these places can be booked with FoSGS in advance.

FoSGS will send out the topics being discussed at the relevant TPF at the start of each term.

Parents/carers will be allocated seats on a first come first served basis, although should a topic for discussion particularly relate to one year group, priority will be given to the relevant year group’s parents/carers.

What will happen at the meeting?

No minutes will be taken as the purpose of these meetings is to talk freely and exchange ideas/concerns/positive experiences. The meetings will be informal and relaxed. Each meeting will last 1 hour.

How will the topics be chosen?

They will be chosen by FoSGS who will identify themes from the E-Parent Forum plus suggestions from the school.

Who will attend from the School?

Mr Wergan will attend the Termly Parents Forum along with various members of the Senior Leadership Team as required.  The personnel will vary depending on the topics to be discussed.
